Acute otitis media is one of the most frequent infections in children. Complications are rare, therefore it is advisable for children under 6 months of age to adopt an expectant attitude during 48 to 72 hours. If the evolution of the pathology is unfavorable during or after this delay, an antibiotic treatment has to be instaured. The age of the child, the severity of clinical signs and the evolution have to be considered before deciding antibiotic therapy.
