Research activities which always have been part of the American Nurses' Association program have increased greatly in the last 15 years. Among ANA's significant contributions to nursing research have been sponsoring nine nursing research conferences (1965-1973) and establishing the ANA Commission on Nursing Research and Council of Nurse Researchers.
