Human and animal in vitro models are potentially powerful preclinical tools: prediction of pharmacological behaviour of drugs; selection of animal species most closely related to humans based on metabolic patterns; prediction of drug interactions and explanation of metabolic origins of interindividual variabilities in pharmacological activity.
