When a hospital is considering whether to expand or transform its approach to outpatient surgery business, its internal financial and operating reports can help clarify trends and provide insight into the performance of the existing business over time. Benchmarking data can allow a hospital to compare its estimated performance for a proposed ambulatory surgery center with the actual performance of comparable existing facilities. Financial leaders need to be able to combine internal and external data into a pro forma to help determine whether to move ahead with plans to developthe ASC.
