[Diagnostic errors and their reasons in tumors and preblastomatoses of the skin. Results of a statistical evaluation].

Clinical and histological findings and other available data of 6 521 skin excisates were compared with regard to differential diagnosis. It appears from our findings, that "naive" experience must be replaced by secured knowledge concerning frequencies of wrong diagnoses in definite situations, possible causes of errors, age-, sex-, and local distribution of different skin tumours. This knowledge may be a contribution to the improvement of clinical diagnoses.
