Be aware of how your staff are taking to a new Emergency Department Information System, and be prepared to be proactive in terms of spotting problems and addressing them to ensure the entire staff is comfortable. Make sure staff receive adequate training. Provide them with several sessions if necessary. Once a new phase has been implemented, monitor staff performance with computer screen audits. Doctors often require more time and patience than nurses, but make sure that rejection of the system is not an option.
