At the Memorial Medical Center, calcium alginate dressings have consistently produced dramatic wound healing with a wide variety of wounds. No adverse reactions have been noted to date. The flexibility and comfort in the dressing application/removal have promoted patient and staff participation in wound care management. Cost-containment is directly related to a decrease in nursing time, fewer dressing changes, a decrease in wasted dressing material, and earlier discharges with outpatient management.
