Identity status of black adolescents: an empirical investigation.

The purpose of this study was to assess the identity status of a group of 237 black adolescents. The major finding--that the majority of these adolescents were engaged in the identity-searching process rather than experiencing identity foreclosure--differed from previous research on the black adolescent identity process.
