Abstract
The primary antibacterial effect of betalactam antibiotics is due to the inhibition of cell-wall synthesis. Prerequisites for good antibacterial activity of such an antibiotic are --rapid penetration across the bacterial cell wall, --strong binding to the proper targets in the cytoplasmic membrane, i.e. the penicillin-binding proteins, --resistance to betalactamases which may be produced by the bacterial cell.

β-内酰胺类抗生素的主要抗菌作用是由于抑制细胞壁合成。这类抗生素具有良好抗菌活性的前提条件是——迅速穿透细菌细胞壁，——与细胞质膜上的合适靶点即青霉素结合蛋白紧密结合，——对细菌细胞可能产生的β-内酰胺酶具有抗性。
