[Nurse's role in a program of alcoholism rehabilitation].

As far back as history goes alcoholism is known to have caused various problems: psychological, pathological and social. Theories regarding their causes are many and they vary in each case. In Cyprus, a special detoxification programme is being used, in which the nurse's role is very important. Special importance is accorded to the withdrawal symptoms in the nursing assessment and nursing care.
