Varenicline is a new drug for smoking cessation that reduces cravings by binding to the alfa4-beta2-nicotine-achethylcholine receptors in the brain (partial agonist). Varenicline for 12 weeks was found to be effective for smoking cessation and more effective than bupropionSR after 3 months. The adverse events were mild with transient nausea reported by less than one third of the subjects. Varenicline should be used for smoking cessation when nicotine replacement products have failed or are undesired.
伐尼克兰是一种用于戒烟的新药，它通过与大脑中的α4-β2-尼古丁-乙酰胆碱受体结合（部分激动剂）来减少对香烟的渴望。研究发现，服用12周的伐尼克兰对戒烟有效，且在3个月后比安非他酮缓释剂更有效。不良事件较为轻微，不到三分之一的受试者报告有短暂恶心症状。当尼古丁替代产品无效或不适用时，可使用伐尼克兰来帮助戒烟。
