In this paper, we review classification schemes of renal cystic lesions, recent technical improvements helpful for improving radiologist confidence, the potential use of microbubble contrast agents, the differential diagnosis of solid renal lesions, and the expanding role of ultrasound-guided biopsy and treatment of renal masses.
