In our efforts aimed at securing quality it is mandatory that certain criteria be defined which should be met by any dental treatment. These criteria must be based on the common features of the different acknowledged concepts of full denture construction. A review of the literature including about 200 publications mainly of the past 15 years is presented. A concept for the assessment of full dentures is introduced.
