The purpose of this study was to gain an understanding of healthy behaviors in individuals living with debilitating illness. Two key concepts developed: spirituality and focus/adaptation. Professionals empowering an individual's innate spirituality can markedly improve adaptation, successful living with chronic illness, and quality of life.
