Enterocutaneous fistulas are dreaded complications that result in a delayed recovery and longer hospitalization. The nursing and medical management can indeed be a challenge. Nursing has the responsibility to plan and implement care that will protect skin integrity, control odor, contain drainage, and provide emotional support.
