The primary care provider plays an important role in early recognition of CHF. It is important to use the physiological concepts to better identify mechanisms of cardiac failure. Prompt identification and management of correctable underlying problems and avoidance of precipitating factors enhance the wellness of these individuals. In collaboration with other health care professionals the primary care provider can make significant contributions toward improving the quantity and quality of life in heart failure patients.
