Facial aesthetic surgery with emphasis on rhinoplasty in the Hispanic patient.

PURPOSE OF REVIEW

Increasingly, more Hispanic patients worldwide are seeking cosmetic procedures. Of these, many are facial procedures, most commonly rhinoplasties. With the increasing demand to perform these procedures, it becomes imperative to try to gain knowledge in the area and offer patients the best possible surgical option for their needs.

RECENT FINDINGS

Hispanic patients, also known as mestizo patients are a growing ethnic group worldwide. Today emphasis is placed on evaluating the different facial characteristics, defining the specific problems encountered and having an armamentarium of surgical options to offer. This is especially true when performing rhinoplasty, one of the most common facial plastic procedures performed today in the Hispanic or mestizo population.

SUMMARY

Facial aesthetic surgery, especially rhinoplasties in Hispanic patients should be performed after evaluating the patient's specific facial characteristics, making an adequate diagnosis of the existing problems and offering the patient surgical options that comply with their aesthetic ideal.
