In some areas, Asian communities constitute a sizeable proportion of the population around a general dental practice, yet some have never been to a dentist in the whole of their lives. A significant number of others fail to visit a dentist regularly. This two-part article aims to clarify some of the issues relating to dental care of minority groups, with particular reference to Asian communities. part 1 identified dental health problems characteristic of British Asians, Part 2 now examines some of the barriers to care.
