[Puncture biopsy of the breast (debatable problems)].

The reliability of puncture biopsy of the breast is 65%. The procedure is not safe since it does not assure ablasticity. Puncture biopsy should be performed immediately before the start of treatment at institutions equipped for cytological, surgical and radiation treatment. The use of the procedure should be confined to cases in whom morphologic data are decisive for choosing therapeutic modality.
