[Anesthesia for short or outpatient operations (author's transl)].

It was intended to find out for which operations and operative investigations ambulant anesthesia offered advantages, what conditions must be fulfilled and which methods of anesthesia are suitable. The question arose not only because of increasing hospital costs, but also because of personal advantages of the out-patient operation for the patients and their families and for other reasons. The importance of consultation with the anesthetist in which the ambulant patient is prepared is emphasized and from there communications to the participants and questions of postoperative safety are examined.
