Abstract
This is a two-part unit on cervical cancer. The first part outlines its incidence and predisposing risk factors, together with the effect of the human papilloma virus. Precancerous changes to the cervix are described, as well as the colposcopy department's function, the new vaccination programme and types of cervical cancer.
