Function tests, followed by assessment of physical health, were carried out in 2188 schoolchildren living in the rural areas of the Stavropol Territory. There were 1064 (48.6%) boys and 1124(51.4%) girls. Critical periods were revealed during studies, which were accompanied by the greatest tension of the functional capacities of a child. These included school admission, transition to subject learning, onset of pubescence, and leaving classes. Active prophylactic and health-improving measures should be implemented in the given time spaces to prevent adaptation failure in schoolchildren.
