In a recent systematic review, de Gregorio et al. reported that left ventricular thrombus formation and subsequent cardioembolism in patients with tako-tsubo cardiomyopathy are rare but well-defined complications that can be efficaciously treated with anticoagulant therapy. These data underline the need for the routine use of anticoagulant drugs when mural thrombus formation occurs and suggest the use of these drugs to prevent such complications.
