Almost every four years a Supplement of Chest about the use of antithrombotic agents is published. The recommendations come from international experts who deal among others with the use of these drugs in case of venous thromboembolic disease, atrial fibrillation, valvular and structural heart diseases, ischemic stroke, coronary diseases and peripheral artery occlusive disease. We review some recommendations about the appropriate use of anticoagulants to prevent and treat venous thromboembolic diseases as well as the use of antiplatelet agents in case of arterial diseases.
