This information is important in making therapeutic decisions about the management of such injuries. The article then reviews the various opinions regarding diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes. Then, as a counterpoint, the author presents his own approach developed over 30 years as a pediatric oral and maxillofacial surgeon.
