The nanoparticles-induced vertical alignment technique was applied to generate variable liquid-crystal pretilt angles based on doping different concentrations of polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) nanoparticles in the planar-aligned liquid crystal cells. Competition between the homogeneously aligned polyimide layer and POSS-induced spontaneous vertical alignment domain generated the variable pretilt angle. Experimental results demonstrated that the pretilt angle theta(p) is a function of the doped POSS concentration and can be controlled continuously over the range of 0 degrees <theta(p)<90 degrees .
通过在平面取向液晶盒中掺杂不同浓度的多面体低聚倍半硅氧烷(POSS)纳米颗粒,应用纳米颗粒诱导垂直取向技术来产生可变的液晶预倾角。均匀取向的聚酰亚胺层与POSS诱导的自发垂直取向畴之间的竞争产生了可变的预倾角。实验结果表明,预倾角θ(p)是掺杂的POSS浓度的函数,并且可以在0°<θ(p)<90°的范围内连续控制。
