Millions of children (and also adults) affected by attention deficit hyperactivity (ADHD) are members of families already receiving care in many dental practices. A review of national and state prevalence data, the impact of ADHD on children, youths and adults, and issues related to dental services are presented to provide a broad appreciation of the disorder beyond an individual dental practice. "...'cost of illness' for ADHD was between $36 and $52 billion in 2005 dollars".
