Abstract
The elderly patient with diabetes presents unique problems in diabetes management. It is important that practitioners managing elderly patients understand all the factors that impact on diabetes management, in particular those that increase the risk for hypoglycemia and other diabetes emergencies. Given the complexity of the problems encountered, the safe and efficient management of diabetes in the elderly patient requires a team approach.
