Epithelial-stromal interaction was investigated in human endometrial carcinoma. The medium cultured with fibroblasts derived from human endometrial carcinoma tissue increased [3H]thymidine incorporation into and estrogen receptor level of endometrial carcinoma (Hashimoto) cells. Concomitant exposure to estradiol, but not to progesterone, synergistically enhanced the conditioned medium-induced events. These findings demonstrated direct interaction of epithelial cells and its stromal cells in endometrial carcinoma.
