Synovial chondromatosis of the temporomandibular joint is a rare, benign condition of unknown etiology. It is characterised by the presence of loose cartilage bodies in the joint space which gradually leads to increased functional disturbances. The clinical, radiological, histopathological and therapeutical aspects are presented together with a new case report.
