Abstract

Experiments were conducted on rats. A study was made (with the aid of histological and histochemical methods) of the effect of administration of hydrocortisone, insulin, and also of the combined administration of these hormones on the myocardial structure and metabolism. Hydrocortisone administration for 30 days proved to derange the metabolism and to cause dystrophic changes in the myocardium. In combined administration of hydrocortisone and insulin these dystrophic changes were much less pronounced.
