(1) In France about 0.7% of adults carry the hepatitis B virus and more than 2000 new infections occur each year; (2) In contrast to some misleadingly alarming media reports, a new case-control study shows no link between hepatitis B vaccination and the onset of demyelinating neurological disorders in children. The risk-benefit balance of hepatitis B vaccination remains unchanged.
