This is the first report on addressable electrochemiluminescence (ECL) based on redox-cycling of tris(2,2'-bipyridine)-ruthenium(II) (Ru(bpy)(3)(2+)). By changing the column or row electrodes addressed, the ECL at each address point can be detected separately.
