Humana CEO David Jones is convinced that the for-profit corporation can turn around troubled Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago. Not in years, Jones says, but in a matter of months. Despite Reese's problems, stemming from an unfavorable patient mix, high overhead and aging physical plant, Jones is convinced he can turn the hospital around by late 1992. "I know Chicago, and I've wanted to get into Chicago in a big way for a long time," Jones says. "I believe it's going to be a great challenge to us. But I feel it's a fantastic opportunity for Humana."
