Standard is revised for medical staff bylaws.

In response to feedback from the medical community, The Joint Commission has revised its medical staff standard. If the medical staff wants to have the associated details of all elements in the bylaws they can, but they can also reference them in rules and regulations or policies and procedures. The medical staff's self-governance is maintained, and its collaboration with the hospital's governing body is enhanced. It makes clear that quality and safety are not just the hospital's responsibility. It is the responsibility of the hospital and medical staff working collaboratively and supporting each other.
