Metastatic epidural spinal cord compression.

Metastatic epidural spinal cord compression is a debilitating consequence of multiple cancer types. Early diagnosis and treatment are imperative for improving functional outcome. The authors review the epidemiology, pathophysiology, clinical features, and diagnostic evaluation of metastatic epidural spinal cord compression. Special attention will be given to the supportive and definitive treatments available for management, and new therapeutic interventions, such as radiosurgery, will be briefly discussed as well.
