By understanding the three phases of wound healing, the caregiver knows when and how to react when the wound is not properly progressing. The home health nurse must be particularly observant when treating a wound because of his/her time constraints with the patient. Correct diagnosis and treatment at the outset are critical to a quick recovery for the patient.
