The paper is concerned with advances of clinical genetics in the diagnosis of hereditary diseases. Emphasis is laid on substantial contribution of heredity to the pathology of the fetus, neonate, child and adult. Diagnostic potentialities of antenatal, neonatal and postnatal diagnosis are characterized. Contribution of heredity to the impairment of reproductive functions in women is discussed.
