[A case of successful surgical treatment of a patient with portal hypertension and ascites induced by a fistula between the superior mesenteric artery and the vein].

Presented herein is a clinical case report concerning surgical management of a rare-localization arteriovenous fistula, i.e., between the superior mesenteric artery and vein (the system of the portal vein) complicated by portal hypertension and ascites in a 67-year-old male patient. The check examination performed one month after the operation revealed no signs of either portal hypertension or ascites.
