One of the universal human rights is the right to live. This right should not be restricted for patients with a haematological malignancy. All treatment options should be made available to these patients for as long as treatment is reasonable and beneficial. Healthcare should not be considered as expenditure, but rather as investment giving profits in return, not least in the form of employment opportunities.
