The results in 53 patients with tumours of the oral cavity and oropharyngeal region who received Cisplatinum/5-FU indicate that ultrasound monitoring of preoperative antineoplastic chemotherapy is a valuable, effective, and economical/imaging method which improves the early adjustment of the therapy concept to response rates at the C2-level.
