Developing communication skills for use with Black patients.

The purpose of this article is twofold: 1) to familiarize nurses with the conceptual and historical development of Black English; and 2) to improve communication between nurses and Black patients. A plea is made for the introduction of these concepts into the curricular of all Schools of Nursing.
