Focal nerve injuries are a major source of pain and sensory disturbance in the foot, especially when branches of the tibial or peroneal nerves are involved. As patients with these disorders frequently seek podiatric evaluation early in the course of these disorders, the podiatrist must be an expert in the prompt recognition and proper treatment of these disorders.
