Computed tomography of the hindfoot is a well established examination, particularly in traumatology (1, 7, 9, 13, 14, 17). A simple measurement to estimate the shape of the os calcis in CT is presented. On a number of normal feet standard values were determined. The principle can be used in pathologic cases as well and deformity can be quantified. A neutral rating of post-therapeutic results is possible. The method can be performed easily and rapidly and is therefore suitable for routine practice.
