The title compound, C(16)H(14)N(2)O(2)S, crystallizes with two independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit. The dihedral angles between the plane of the benzothia-zole ring system and the phenyl ring plane are 51.63 (7) and 60.46 (5)°. In the crystal structure, weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and C-H⋯π inter-actions contribute to the stabilization of the packing.
