The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [MnBr(2)(C(8)H(6)N(4))(2)]·CH(3)NO(2), contains one half of a neutral Mn(II) complex and one half of a nitro-methane solvent mol-ecule, the complete mol-ecules being generated by the application of twofold symmetry. In the complex, the Mn(II) ion has a distorted cis-Br(2)N(4) octa-hedral coordination geometry defined by four N atoms of the two chelating 2,2'-bipyrimidine ligands and two Br(-) ions. There are intra- and inter-molecular C-H⋯Br and C-H⋯N contacts.
