Combined adaptation of rats to heat and cold increases the resistance to both factors. Increased thermogenesis of these rats compared with those who have only been adapted to cold, is characterized by a relative decrease of the thyroid gland role and by the increase of the role of sympatho-adrenal mechanisms.
