Electrocatalytic reduction of CO(2) by Ru(tpy)(bpy)(solvent) (tpy = 2,2':6',2''-terpyridine, bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine) and its structural analogs is initiated by sequential 1e(-) reductions at the tpy and bpy ligands followed by rate limiting CO(2) addition to give a metallocarboxylate intermediate. It undergoes further reduction and loss of CO.
[Ru(tpy)(bpy)(溶剂)]²⁺(tpy=2,2':6',2''-三联吡啶,bpy=2,2'-联吡啶)及其结构类似物通过 tpy 和 bpy 配体的顺序 1e(-)还原引发电化学还原 CO₂,然后限速 CO₂ 加成得到金属羧酸盐中间物。它会进一步还原并失去 CO。
