The value of angiography is based on the fact that it enables the imaging of vascular processes (haemorrhage, aneurysm) and occasionally also the imaging of the vascular supply of tumors not related to any organ. Transarterial treatment procedures in the pelvic region, whether embolisation or intra-arterial chemoembolisation or intravasal radiotherapy, are on the whole rarely employed. They are important in palliative therapy of advanced and often inoperable neoplasms that cannot be treated otherwise.
