[Treatment of diabetic angiopathies of the lower extremities].

Patients with diabetes mellitus accounted for 7% of all hospitalized patients. The authors analyse the treatment of 126 patients in whom diabetes mellitus was complicated by angiopathies of the lower limbs. Patients over 60 years of age accounted for 60.3% of cases. Concomitant diseases were found in 87 patients. The article shows the main principles of the complex management of patients, which is based on correction of carbohydrate and other types of metabolism, treatment of concomitant diseases, and timely operation. When surgery was necessary in stage IV of the disease, preference was given to economical operations. It is shown that if amputation of the limb cannot be avoided, an effort should be made to preserve the knee. The mortality rate was 10.3%.
